Pitches at An Exhibition

When asked "So, what, painting is an excuse to listen to really good music?" Andy Warhol replied, "Oh yeah." On January 5th at 8pm, Composers Concordance ("enterprising new music organization" -NYTimes) presents a contemporary art and music event entitled 'Pitches at an Exhibition'. Pianist Taka Kigawa ("a potent keyboard force" -The New Yorker) performs selections from Modest Mussorgsky's milestone work 'Pictures at an Exhibition', in a new version with electronic transformations.

On view are paintings and sculptures by Gorazd Poposki, Kevork Mourad, Ronnie Taylor, Jill Slaymaker, Suzi Matthews, and Kim Prtisker and Sebastian Izya Pritsker, among others. All the while, one hears live music inspired by these artworks, including compositions and performances by Milica Paranosic, David Taylor, Gene Pritsker, Lynn Bechtold, Dan Cooper, Daniel Palkowski, Edward Laurel, and Joseph Pehrson, among others.
